A Phased Reconstruction to Enhance Efficiency and Security at the Lewiston Queenston Bridge Plaza

The Niagara Falls Bridge Commission’s Lewiston Queenston Bridge Plaza Reconstruction Phase 2 involved significant upgrades to the U.S. side of the Land Port of Entry in Lewiston, NY. This multiyear, phased project included the construction of a new two-story Administration Building for CBP, multiple Primary Inspection Booths under a Primary Canopy, and a Secondary Inspection Canopy over parking spaces. Additional work included the demolition of the existing Administration Building, the reconstruction of several lanes of the I-190 Southbound, and the construction of an Export Building.

Our scope of work included:

  • Installation of structural concrete foundations and micro piles for large overhead signs.
  • Removal of existing pavement and all utilities within the project limits.
  • Installation of a new sewer system, drainage system, and water supply system.
  • Excavation, structure installation, and backfill for Plumbing and Electrical contractors.

  • Excavation, backfill, and slab-on-grade preparation for all new structures.
  • Establishing proper grades and subbase installation for new pavements, curbs, walkways, and landscape areas.
  • Installation of new concrete curbs, sidewalks, heavy-duty concrete pavement, and asphalt pavement.
  • Installation of new inspection booths.
  • Providing and installing traffic signage and pavement markings.
  • Supplying and installing custom wayfinding signage with structural foundations.
  • Soil placement for landscape plantings and turf seeding.

This project enhances the efficiency, security, and functionality of the plaza, ensuring a streamlined experience for travelers and border operations.
